1925
IG Farben AG produced molybdenum metal powder from molybdic acid in Bitterfeld for the first time.
1945
A large part of the production facilities was dismantled and transferred to the former Soviet Union.
1951
Reconstruction of the metal powder production facilities at VEB Chemiekombinat Bitterfeld. Molybdenum products were exported mainly to the Soviet Union.
1990
Following the privatisation of the former state industry in Saxony-Anhalt VEB Chemiekombinat Bitterfeld initially became Chemie AG Bitterfeld-Wolfen.
1993
Foundation of CM CHEMIEMETALL GmbH following a management buyout by three former senior managers of Chemie AG Bitterfeld-Wolfen.
2000
The world’s largest molybdenum processor, the Chilean Molymet Group, was looking for ways of extending the molybdenum value chain.
2001
CM CHEMIEMETALL GmbH became a full subsidiary of the Chilean Molymet Group.
2006 
The Chilean state president, Michelle Bachelet, opened a new production line in Bitterfeld during her state visit.
2013
Chemiemetall extended its product portfolio with the addition of made-to-measure molybdenum products.
2018
Start of extensive investment in the expansion and the optimization of the production capacity
2020
From now on our products are reflected in our name. We are acting as MOLYMET Germany GmbH
